What is a Noren?
A noren is a traditional Japanese fabric curtain used in doorways, entrances, or between rooms. It typically features vertical slits that allow people to pass through easily. Noren serve both functional and decorative purposes—providing privacy, softening light, improving airflow, and adding a unique Japanese touch to interior spaces.
Originally used in shops and restaurants, noren are now also enjoyed in modern homes, offices, studios, spas, and hotels for their elegant simplicity and cultural charm. Learn More

Materials
Choose one material. Ramie is selected by default.
Size
Enter your preferred width, height, and number of panels. Pricing will vary depending on the total size, material, and design.
For doorway use, we generally recommend choosing a noren width that is close to the width of your opening. A slightly wider noren can create a fuller look, while a slightly narrower noren gives a cleaner and lighter impression.
- For a standard doorway, W80–90 cm × H120–150 cm is commonly used.
- For privacy or partition use, longer lengths such as H150–180 cm are recommended.
- For shop or restaurant use, the ideal size depends on the purpose and installation area.Wide noren are often used for storefront entrances, counters, partitions, and branding displays.
- For wall decoration or tapestry-style hanging, single-panel designs are also available.
Color
Please choose one base color from the 14 options below. White is selected by default. We can also produce custom colors upon request.
Choose a custom color instead of the standard colors. Custom colors may cost slightly more and may require a little extra production time.
Design
Select whether you would like a plain noren or a noren with a custom logo or artwork.
- We offer two production methods: traditional hand-dyeing by skilled artisans or modern digital printing.
- Hand-dyeing is ideal for simple stenciled noren designs, while digital printing is suitable for full-color noren and more complex artwork.
Accepted file formats: PDF, AI, PSD, JPG, PNG, etc.
